Back in Ohioland
I seem to be incapable of falling asleep tonight, so I figured I'd be productive while I am not sleeping.
Today was the second day of classes and so far I have experienced all but two of my classes.
On Tues and Thurs I have Renaissance and Early Modern Philosophy, which sounds incredibly boring, but the professor I have it with is one of those brilliant but still funny types, and I was completely entertained by him for a whole hour and a quarter on Tues, and I'm actually looking foward to getting up early and listening some more.
Then there is Selected Problems in Ethics:Sex Ethics which is looking to be very interesting. The teacher of this class happens to look like Pierce Brosnan, so even if I get bored in class, I can still look at him and be completely happy,
And last for the day is acting, which as some of you know, I took for about a month last semester and withdrew from. So, I sort of remember what is expected of us for the first month-ish of the class, but even with knowing all of that, it is still an extremely hard class, and I have a lot of work to do for it.
I'm thinking of throwing in Shakespeare's Tragedies in there too. I'd have to get signed into the class but I know the professor pretty well, and I know Billy Shakes pretty well too, and I know a lot of people in the class, so it might be a good idea. I'm still considering that one.
On Mon, Wed, and Fri I have Design for theater, which is basically an upper level stagecraft class, and this is the class that basically determines whether or not you have absolutely any future in theater....so a lot is riding on this class, but surprisingly I'm looking foward to it. We have a really interesting play we have to design for, and I find the work very intruiging. For instance, for my next class I have a word and I have to make something and bring it my class where when it is experienced by my fellow classmates they will feel that emotion. So I have to find things that don't necessarily have anything to do with the word, but that would convey that kind of feeling. I'd say what the word is, but its a secret, and you never know what those other people in my class are doing, or what they're reading, and they can't know the word because that's the whole point.
On Mon I have a night class which is called Cinema Studies, where we watch movies and talk about them. I figured that since I already watch movies and talk about them I might as well take a class and do that, and learn other nerdy movie facts that I can tell to people. I know a lot of people in the class with me as well, so that's just another added bonus.
I have another class which I'm probably going to drop, but its just the Archeology lab, which counts as some kind of core class that I need, but its just going to the lab for about 40 hours whenever I want during the semester and cleaning rocks, and I can pretty much take that any semester that I want to, so I'm thinking Arc lab not so much, and Billy Shakes here I come! Plus I'm thinking that I just did the Shakespeare Project last semester so my knowledge of Billy is pretty fresh, and I might as well take this class which is required for my major while I stll remember fun and important facts about him.
So there's the class line-up. Other than that the drama production this semester is Mary Stuart, which is long and boring, and I really don't want to audition, but it looks bad for a drama major not to audition, even if you plan on doing no acting whatsoever in the future. So I'll be there on Tues night for a while. Also on Tues nights there is all-campus praise and worship in the chapel, which is a small affair, good for some group praying time, and I've been appointedwith another girl to be the intercessory person for the night, intercessing for other people and whatever they need. I'm pretty excited about that. I like doing nice things for people, and praying for people is always nice for them, so they get something good, and I'm happy. I was considering doing homeless ministry, where we go downtown and feel homeless people in sort of a mustard seed fashion if you will, but I'm not sure if I'm going to have time for that. I'll know better in a couple weeks if that's something that can be squeezed in my already rediculously full schedule.
Oh, also, as a prequel to all of this, I was on Orientation team being entertaining for the new people, and it was a lot of hard work and also a lot of fun, and I'll have to describe that whole thing the next time I can't sleep, because it is late and I do have class in the morning, so I'm going to trying and force myself into some sort of sleeping-ness.
Be good until we meet again!
